The company's headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia. It is a premier manufacturer and supplier of industrial, medicinal, rare gases, and related services, with 200+ employees in two major Indian states. In 2016, Southern Company acquired AGL Resources and renamed it Southern Company Gas.

Nicor Gas in Illinois, Atlanta Gas Light in Georgia, Virginia Natural Gas in Virginia, and Chattanooga Gas in Tennessee make up the distribution operations. Natural gas pipelines, distribution facilities, and storage facilities are built, managed, and maintained by the utilities. They also react to and repair gas leaks and other service inquiries, as well as reading meters. The Southern Company Gas utilities provide natural gas to the majority of their consumers.
