New Chumta Tea Company Limited was incorporated in the State of West Bengal, India on 24th June 1889 as a public limited company under the provisions of the Indian Companies Act 1882. Its main objects are amongst other things, to grow, cultivate, manufacture, blend, process, buy, sell and deal various forms of tea.
The company was managed under the managing agency system by McLeod & Co. Ltd. In 1970 the system of managing agency, secretaries & treasurers was abolished by amendment in the Company’s Act 1956, when the Company became independent.
