Sterlite Power eyes ₹70,000 crore of renewable energy transmission projects

It claimed it would actively bid for contracts from the 70,000 crore transmission projects scheduled for auction soon. These projects will help remove green energy from power plants.

Globally, power generation is shifting from fossil to non-fossil, requiring extensive transmission infrastructure throughout India and worldwide markets. Sterlite Power Transmission Ltd  MD Pratik Agarwal.

“With India expecting to add 500 GW of renewables by 2030, enormous investments in transmission are required, including private sector participation.”

He said the corporation would bid on as many of the 70,000 crore projects as possible.

Mr. Agarwal stated that the company's anticipated IPO will raise $1.250 billion for expansion and capital expenditures.

“Our differentiated business model has two parts: asset ownership and development, and providing services or products to the transmission industry,” he said.

As an asset owner, the business is targeting India and Brazil, the world's two largest markets for BOT transmission lines.

“In our solutions business, we make items and supply to over 40 countries, including many European countries,” Mr. Agarwal said.

India is one of the few countries that has allowed private sector engagement in transmission, attracting companies like Sterlite Transmission, Adani Transmission, and KEC International.
