Nayara Energy, a private fuel retailer, reported a 48% increase in petrol sales in the first quarter of the 2024 calendar year, although exports fell as the company met increased local demand for fuel.
According to a corporate statement, Nayara sold 70% of the petroleum products produced at its Vadinar oil refinery in Gujarat in the domestic Indian market during the January-March quarter.
"Nayara Energy is primarily focused on catering to the growing demand of petroleum products in India through institutional business, sales to other oil companies and through its own retail chain," it stated.
Petrol sold domestically increased to 0.89 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2024, up from 0.60 million tonnes in January-March 2023.
