Chennai Super Kings CSK is set to open new cricket academies for boys and girls as part of a new initiative. Two academies will be established, one in Chennai and another in Salem. The franchise will also open the IPL 2022 season on March 26 against Kolkata Knight Riders. They are in Group B alongside the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Titans.
CSK will establish two Super Kings centers in Chennai and Salem, with more locations around Tamil Nadu. The Chennai Super Kings Academy will be housed in Thoraipakkam, while the Salem Super Kings Academy will be placed at the Salem Cricket Foundation.
"We have been associated with cricket for five decades and feel that this is an excellent opportunity to give back to the game. This is the ideal chance for us to share our knowledge and contribute to the development of the future generation of cricketers," Chennai Super Kings CEO KS Viswanathan stated in an official statement.
"With skilled coaches and state-of-the-art facilities, the Super Kings Academy will not only provide exceptional coaching but will also take a holistic approach to mentoring boys and girls," he continued.
The academy at Thoraipakkam features state-of-the-art facilities, including floodlit outdoor and indoor nets, a variety of grass pitches, and concrete, indoor, and open net facilities. Additionally, a grass field will be accessible for match simulation. The building is well-equipped for learners and parents, with a fitness center, restaurant, and other vital services. Salem's center is situated on a 16-acre plot of land. Additionally, they feature flood-lit large fields, appropriate practice pitches, a pavilion, and a media center. Boys and girls will be tutored by BCCI-certified coaches who will implement a CSK-specific coaching style. Michael Hussey, the batting coach for the Chennai Super Kings, lauded the Super Kings Academy as a wonderful effort.
